One by one.

Darmstadt Essential Repertoire at Issue Project Room
The New York Times, December 3, 2010

Night one of this vital young festival featured a sterling cast of local luminaries in Berio's first ten Sequenzas. I only wish I could have spilled more ink on the performers bunched together at the end, as every participant brought something unique and special to this event, but I think you get the general impression. I urge you to click through to the Times review to see Hiroyuki Ito's characteristically gorgeous photos of Claire Chase and Chris McIntrye. And remember, this festival continues through Saturday and warrants your attention.

  1. Great review. I only wish I could have been there, given the starry array of performers.

  2. You’ve got two more chances to schlep out there, don’t forget. (And yep, I owe you an e-mail, kind sir.)

  3. Alas, I had to make some Faustian decisions this weekend, which is turning into another one of those frustrating new music traffic jams. So it looks like I’m going to miss the rest of them. Odd, since usually this time of year the landscape clears out and all that’s left standing are 10,000 performances of The Messiah. (And no offense, Handelians, please don’t flood my inbox.)
No rush to reply to the e-mail; just happy for your help. I know you’re the hardest-working man in show business!
