Guitarist James Moore's Stone residency is brief but eventful: a variety night, a performance with Forever House, and a Dither finale.

Before closing for seasonal maintenance, Bargemusic hosts three concerts of new music in wildly varying styles.

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra

Xian Zhang conducts Clara Schumann's Piano Concerto, with Inon Barnatan at the keyboard; Smetana and Prokofiev works complete the bill.

New York Philharmonic
David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center; Jan. 3-4 at 8, Jan. 7 at 7:30

Jeffrey Kahane is both the conductor and the piano soloist in a blithe mix of Mozart, Respighi, and Haydn.

"Broken Silence"
DiMenna Center for Classical Music; Jan. 6-8 at 8:25

Wandelweiser composer Craig Shepard narrates his own musical meditation, meant to facilitate healing in the wake of sexual-abuse scandals in the Catholic Church.

Omer Quartet
Merkin Hall; Jan. 7 at 2

Gabriella Smith is that composer all the other composers are eager to tell you about, and for good reason; here, she shares a bill with Schubert and Beethoven.
