In memory of.

Sad news has poured in at a steady pace today. I had no personal connection with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Andrew Imbrie or H. Wiley Hitchcock. But my life has been enriched by the work of each, so I turn to the words of more knowledgeable souls.

Alex Ross on Karlheinz Stockhausen

Robert Commanday on Andrew Imbrie (per Lisa)

Kyle Gann on H. Wiley Hitchcock

  1. Steve, in the link to Gann’s Hitchcock piece you have “Hancock.”
Having been an undergrad at Brooklyn College in the ’70s, not having had the opportunity to study with Hitchcock is a regret.

  2. Thanks for the correction, Pete.
